Once you taste it, you’ll want to come back. Again. And again. If you'd like to watch instead of read, click here.
Asian food in Cape Town has been taking over in the best way, from Korean fried chicken to bao buns and firecracker prawns, there’s no shortage of flavour-packed options around. But The Wok Bar stands out for its consistently bold flavours, fresh prep, and that signature open kitchen energy we love.
What Makes The Wok Bar Special?
Their location is fitted with an open-style kitchen, so you can watch your food being made right in front of you. It’s fun, fast, and adds a layer of trust (and anticipation!) as you see your dish come to life.
Their menu is a beautiful mix of Asian cuisine. Think:
Japanese-style sushi
Korean-inspired starters
Stir-fries and noodle bowls
A make-your-own wok option where you choose your protein, base, sauce, and toppings
Whether you're here for a light lunch or something more indulgent, there’s something for every kind of eater, and every kind of budget.

What We Tried (and Loved)
If you’ve followed us for a while, you’ll know we’re suckers for a good starter. And The Wok Bar’s starters do not disappoint.
Beef Bao Buns. Hands-down our favourite. Soft, pillowy bao filled with juicy, flavour-packed beef. These beat the chicken and prawn versions in our books.
Firecracker Prawns. Crispy, spicy, and addictive. Honestly, they should come in unlimited portions 😅 (Slightly pricey, but worth the splurge as a shared starter.)
We've also had their build-your-own option for the mains, and loved it.
In a Nutshell: Asian Food in Cape Town
The Wok Bar offers a great mix of flavour, experience, and variety, whether you’re going for a quick solo lunch, a date night with a twist, or just craving something different. It's halaal-certified, reasonably priced, and filled with meals that make you want to come back for round two.
Our tip: go with friends and order a bunch of starters to share. Trust us, you’ll want to taste everything.
